Not Sure What to Post On Social Media? Let This Be Your Guide

If you feel like your social media channels are growing stale or you don’t know what to post anymore, you are not alone. Bloggers, influencers, and social media managers all struggle to put together unique and engaging content on a regular basis.

1. Exceptional Product Features 

What are the hidden features that your customers don’t know? What makes your products stand out above the rest? Post photos or videos highlighting these features in action. 

2. Fan Photos of Customers 

You don’t have to worry about what to post on social media when your customers create content for you! Look for posts and tags related to your brand and share flattering fan photos. Ask your fans before featuring them and thank them for their kind words. 

3. Exclusive Social Media Deals

Once you build up your social media following, reward your fans with exclusive deals and offers. This will turn your fans into customers as they take advantage of the social media discount. You can reach this group of people exclusively and track the number of times the discount is used to see how effective your social promotions are. 

4. Seasonal Offers 

Post on social media when you have a promotional offer but it is running out. Are you offering a summer massage special? Let fans know that it is only valid for a few more weeks. Do you have a secret menu item for July? Tell people to come in before the end of the month. Social media is topical and you can use it to drive behavior. 

5. Store News and Updates

The vast majority of people get their news and updates about brands from social media. Use this channel if you have to close early, if you have extended hours during the holidays, or if you have new products or services available. Your social media accounts can be your top new marketing channels.  

6. Event Promotions

Let customers and fans know about upcoming in-store events. You can also post about events that you will be at, like community markets or non-profit fundraisers. Once the event passes, post photos so fans can see what they missed and encourage them to attend the next one. 

7. Social Media Holiday Celebrations

IHOP jumps on Pancake Day and Breakfast Day with several posts leading up to the event and on the holiday itself. Look for relevant holidays that your brand can take advantage of and post about them to engage customers. For example, a restaurant could celebrate National Fried Chicken Day in July with a fried chicken special. 

8. Memes About Your Brand  

You can show that your brand is hip and engaged with the latest trends by jumping on popular memes. Whenever you discover a new meme format, save it, and see how you can apply it to a post on social media for your brand. You can create a few fun posts per month with this. 

9. Local City News and Events

You don’t have to restrict your social media posts to brand-related items. Branch out and talk about events happening locally or big local news. You can join the conversation in your community and become a hub for news.  

10. Personal Updates About Staff 

Your top customers will develop a close relationship with your staff members. Post updates about your staff when they leave for other opportunities or when they have significant personal accomplishments. This adds a personal touch and shows that you care. 

11. Throwback Photos

Show your customers how much you have grown! Post throwback photos of when your business first opened or what the neighborhood looked like when your store moved in. Your customers may be surprised to see how far you have come. 

12. Survey Questions and Quizzes

Social media is a great place to get feedback from your customers. Post customer surveys to get their feedback on new products or ideas and let them share their thoughts. Ask trivia questions and encourage your fans to jump in with their best guesses. You can also post quizzes to see how much people know about your industry or your products and services.
