SFA-logo-722253_307x195Since 2008, Surfers For Autism has raised money to benefit autism associated charities. But what SFA really does for children with autism spectrum disorders is MUCH more than that.

At Surfers For Autism events, the kids are treated like rock stars. They have fun. They play and interact with typical peers. They wow their families with their capabilities. They get to learn how to surf from a real instructor, and then try out their skills on gentle waves. Most importantly, the kids are in charge of their day!

There are some kids with autism spectrum disorders that don’t normally interact with others, or don’t like the water, or have very specific routines and patterns. But at the SFA event, you see a different side – they’re smiling and having fun, laughing, talking and playing, moving outside their comfort zone, and you can tell that it’s an incredibly therapeutic experience.

And let’s be honest – the volunteers have fun too! In fact, it’s hard to wipe the smile off your face, even long after the event is over.

Spectrio is excited and proud to sponsor the 4th Annual Bay Area Surfers For Autism Beach Festival (our third sponsorship!), which will be held on July 12th at Pass-A-Grille Beach in Florida.
