When it comes to making a creative hold message, Spectrio employs some of the best writers in the biz. Here are a few ideas for ways to add fun flair to your on hold messages, directly from our spectacular staff:

Sound effects and multiple voices can spruce things up creatively. I also worked with a company who had audio files of old radio ads from the 40s and 50s and we incorporated them into the production. A few of my accounts like to use jokes in their on hold messages. And I always love working in a good trivia challenge.

Voice talent impersonations add something different to an on hold message. For restaurants, I think it’s fun to play up the theme of the restaurant and get the caller thinking that they’re missing out on a good time if they don’t go.

If they have customers on hold for a long period of time, a ‘serial’ on hold message could be fun, where several of them tie together, with one leaving you (literally) hanging on for the next message. Or breaking the ‘fourth wall’ and calling attention to the music being played and the fact that the message is canned and you are on hold. Some ‘great moments in…’ company history or audio clips of milestones could work.

Giveaways! Put a trivia question in the hold message and if the caller gives the representative the right answer they win a prize. Or, encourage the caller to go to your social media page and post a picture of something related to your business, to receive a discount on a future purchase.
